Decision
Lore (SEO/GEO agency arm) adopts a two-tier monthly pricing structure: Tier 1 at $2,500/month (content + technical + backlinks) and Tier 2 at $4,500/month (content + videos + technical + backlinks). Month 1 (possibly month 2) carries a higher upfront cost to cover AI training, heavier human review, and front-loaded technical work.
Context
Lore’s cost structure is changing with the new AI-assisted drafting system. Michael ran numbers and margins are better than break-even at daily article cadence. Geo and Michael needed to align on an offer to sell before the Unlimited renewal decision later that week. Previous pricing was ad hoc.
Options considered
- Flat rate with no upfront premium: simpler to sell but leaves margin compressed in the heavy-setup months.
- Per-client or per-article pricing: harder to forecast; rejected for now.
- Reddit as standard add-on in Geo plan: discussed but tabled - the contractor cost is significant and needs scoping before standardizing.
Consequences
- All new Lore clients pitched at Tier 1 or Tier 2 going forward.
- Front-loaded higher cost needs to be clearly communicated in the sales process.
- Article volume stays industry-specific: daily for content-rich niches (e.g. culinary), lower for niche industries to avoid topic cannibalization.
- Reddit upsell stays flexible, not yet standard.
- Enables Michael to finalize budget: newsletter, ad funnel, AI cost planning for launch.
