Decision

Rye Valley will migrate from Stripe (payments/subscriptions) and PandaDoc (contracts/signatures) to Agree.com, a combined payments, invoicing, contracts, and subscriptions platform, pending Michael’s sanity-check that existing customers are comfortable with pass-through fee surcharging.

Context

Michael was evaluating Agree.com as a consolidation play. Agree’s pricing (2.75% processing vs. Stripe’s 2.9%) plus built-in e-signature, invoicing, and a Hermes/MCP integration available at no extra cost on the Growth plan made it a compelling single-vendor replacement. The call on Sep 16 surfaced that Agree has a Stripe migration tool that ports subscriptions without customers re-entering payment info.

Options Considered

  • Stay on Stripe + PandaDoc: Status quo; familiar but fragmented toolset, higher processing fee.
  • Migrate to Agree.com: Lower processing fee, consolidation, Hermes MCP integration (covers contracts, invoices, subscriptions). Downside: new vendor dependency.

Consequences

  • Michael to sanity-check pass-through fee reception with a few existing customers; if no objections, migration proceeds.
  • Will Hubbard (Agree) sending Growth plan agreement (includes API/MCP access at no extra cost).
  • Next steps: implementation call with Agree solutions engineer to wire up Hermes integration, then team onboarding kickoff call.
  • Newsletter audience of 60k founders may become a promotional channel for Agree once onboarded.
