Decision
The Trend Update message CTA “Reply yes in this thread and a first draft will be posted here shortly. Blake will polish it after.” must be changed. Hermes cannot act on client replies in Slack threads. Replace with: invite the client to drop their thoughts/angles in the thread, and set expectations of a 24-hour draft turnaround. Blake Emal handles the draft from those inputs.
Context
Blake Stewart flagged in Megaphone that she had never seen Hermes fire the “post a draft” action after a client replied “yes” in a thread. She tested it in her own DMs and it did not fire. Michael confirmed the core problem: “Hermes will not currently take action based on a client’s replies.” The old CTA created a false expectation that was impossible to fulfill automatically.
Blake Stewart also surfaced two operational rules for how Trend Updates should be handled:
- Trend posts count as part of the client’s weekly batch (not extra scope) - for now. When the new pricing model launches next month, up-charging for rush Trend content is on the table.
- Delivery expectation: “we’ll try our best to get a draft in 24 hrs” - not a guarantee.
Options Considered
- Keep the “reply yes” CTA and build Hermes to act on it: deferred - not feasible now.
- Remove the CTA entirely: rejected - clients should still be invited to engage and provide inputs.
- New CTA: drop your thoughts in the thread + 24hr turnaround promise: selected.
Consequences
- Michael to update the Hermes Trend Update message prompt. Owner: Michael Houck.
- Blake Emal (copywriter) informed; workflow is: client drops thoughts in thread, Blake drafts within 24 hours.
- Trend posts count toward weekly batch now; pricing model change next month may allow up-charge.
