Context
Michael posted in announcements on Aug 6 after the Hermes brain system went live. The brain distiller runs nightly and captures decisions, client signals, and commitments from public channels. None of that works if conversations happen in DMs.
Options considered
No formal alternative considered; this is a soft preference, not a hard policy. DMs are still fine for personal or sensitive topics.
Consequences
- Agents can capture context from team conversations automatically.
- Team members who use DMs for business decisions will have those excluded from the brain.
- No enforcement mechanism; relies on team habit.
