[Andrew Cheng]: just on replies, proactive and reactive replies. And then we will go from there. Yeah. What’s the, what’s the plan for like transitioning that from him to you? [Michael Houck]: I imagine it’s not all just being dumped on you on day one, right? No, not at all. [Andrew Cheng]: So tomorrow we’re actually, I’m going to start bright and early with him at 8am Eastern and we’re going to do the first account together. And even today he was kind of going through his day to day, like kind of how, works with type fully and how he posts and how he reacts. So he actually let me come up with a couple with him watching. So that was really fun. But yeah, so I think we’re just, I think mostly just like shadowing him for, and then like today I’m learning a lot about our clients and how they like their voice and how they want to be, how they on a post and I’m also creating a doc with him about like kind of my own process of how I need to make sure like Monday, this is everything I do Tuesday, kind of with all the posts going on. So I think it works for Ben and might not necessarily work for me. So I want to make sure something works for mostly me, but also him. [Michael Houck]: Yeah. I mean, focus on you, right? Like we want, we want this to be something you have total ownership and autonomy over. So if you’re like, Hey, this process isn’t what I need or, whatever, like, you know, feel free to set it up anyway, just let us know what you’re doing. But yeah, makes sense. I think the the engagements are the are the biggest thing to start. But to your point, every client has their nuances and is different. So the sort of getting getting that says like some of them like, like augment, I’m sure Ben mentioned augment or no, they’re probably our most complex account. So they have like a lot of different like operational things we need to consider. Yeah, well, it’s anything but each one has their own little their own little quirks, you know, yeah. [Andrew Cheng]: Yeah, so it’ll be fun to learn and get to know them all. [Michael Houck]: What I’m gonna do then is, I guess once you are actively taking on the engagements, like once you’re like, up and running on a certain client, I’ll add you Slack channel, we have a shared Slack channel individually with every client. Yeah. And that’s where they’ll like, you know, share little updates with us or ask us to do certain things or whatever. So I don’t want to overwhelm you on day one. So I’ll, I’ll loop you into those once we, once you and Ben sort of have a good system for the handoff going, but there’s probably like most clients have a channel. So it’s basically for every client there’s there’s one. [Andrew Cheng]: Sure. Okay. And I also noticed that there’s some clients I don’t have any information in another active clients, but there’s like information in What’s it called? Notion that hasn’t been filled out yet. So are we actively working with them or is it just which ones? Let me find one Let’s go back I think advanced genie doesn’t have any information in the engagements. Yeah. [Michael Houck]: So advanced genie, they’re just a newsletter. Um, they’re not going to do social because it’s like an off brand of one of our other clients. They’re like related to, um, what’s the other one called? Um, off label. Um, so there’s sort of like a, like a secondary newsletter for that same client. Uh huh. Um, similar topics, just focus more on like marketing rather than general business operation stuff. Um, yeah, they’re probably not going to have too much info there. Cause the client, you know, just basically was like, Hey, I want to do this other newsletter. And we’re like, all right. Yeah. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Okay. [Andrew Cheng]: All right. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Cool. [Andrew Cheng]: So pretty much as long as I follow the calendar that Ben created in notion, um, I think it’s in… [Michael Houck]: It’s in my doc. It’s in a doc that he put together. What I’d like to do is have that kind of standardized somewhere in the main Megaphone Studio hub. So if you want to change how that’s structured or if you want to move people around to different days even, obviously we want to make sure that that works for everybody. But again, this is flexible. This is your show. Yeah. Cool. [Andrew Cheng]: Yeah, we mentioned he talked about the flexibility about it doesn’t have to be it’s just what works best for him. But of course, I can’t be posting like 5am for the client or not 5am like 2am for the client. That’s really good to know. And that’s something that I’ll probably work with Ben on in the near future. [Michael Houck]: All right, sounds good. Any I guess like with the onboarding doc, anything in there come up question wise that we should talk through? [Andrew Cheng]: Um, not at the moment right now. I think Ben’s trying to type fully because he forgot the password because I think he has it saved somewhere. So he’s looking for that. Um, we’re not gonna, so we’re not gonna touch newsletter letters at all this week. Um, he did answer some questions that I had in the last couple of hours. So So I don’t think so for the onboard doc as of right now. [Michael Houck]: OK. Yeah, just feel free to check those things off as you sort of go through the first week. Yeah, I think most of the stuff in there should be pretty straightforward. [Andrew Cheng]: Yeah. I know that Ben’s getting me more or less an org chart. Just because I don’t know all the writers and designers yet. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Yeah, we don’t have one of those. [Andrew Cheng]: I really just need a list from him, not an actual drawing. Cool. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: I don’t think so. [Andrew Cheng]: But Thera, do I have to log into that every day and log time, or am I just like, [Michael Houck]: You don’t need to do it every day. You can do it like we pay out twice a month, so you can do it. Whenever is convenient for you. [Andrew Cheng]: And for now, it’s just do it like log in, log off kind of hours or is it just. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, I mean, however much you’re working, you know, we’ll we’ll do that. And I expect it to be, you know, somewhere between 30 to 40 a week, I would say. And then once we I’m still waiting on some stuff from our lawyer for the escort conversion. So once that converts, assuming also that the work is as much as I think it is. Ben was telling me it’s taking up most of his time, so I figure it’s around there. Yeah, so let’s just see where it goes. But if it’s not, there’s a lot of other stuff that you can contribute to as well. So there will be no shortage of things to do, for sure. Perfect. Awesome. And then I think the big thing I wanted you to think about is, you know, as we grow our client base, which we obviously expect to do throughout the summer and beyond, etc. Need to consider, like, avoiding the bottlenecks that come up with a system like this, right? Because if you are going in there, and you’re, you know, engaging for all these clients, how do we do that in a way that isn’t going to make this grow linearly in terms of hours for you? Like, how are you how are you going to avoid going to 60 hours a week? [Andrew Cheng]: Right. Yeah. I did think about that this morning because I was thinking right now it’s definitely, I can definitely handle it. Yeah. But we’ll have, obviously I have to, I want them to be more proactive than just say like, Oh, let’s wait till we hit like, you know, X number of clients or X number of hours. I’m going to have a good sense of what I can handle and play, you know, I was trying to push myself to the limit as long as I can. Not in a bad way. Right. But there’s like, I definitely, you know, I am humans. [Michael Houck]: I will, have my limits too so I’ll definitely definitely flag you or Ben if it’s like oh I think it’s I think eventually like maybe if we have x more clients we might need to think of a another way to do this yeah and there’s you know there’s I I guess we should just keep that in mind of like what that what that will become right like ideally from my perspective that isn’t you know just continuing to add headcount as the agency you know at some point we will need to add more people for sure But if there are more systematized ways that we can do it using AI tools or whatever else, I’m very open to ideas there. [Andrew Cheng]: I don’t have answers for that today, of course. I don’t know why, so it’s all good. It’ll be a fun process. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, something to keep in mind as you get set up and as you get integrated with everything. But yeah, man, I’m pumped to have you on the team. [Andrew Cheng]: I’m very excited. Everything that Ben showed me already, I’m very excited about. And it’s a good chance to like, you know, use the creative juices as well. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, it’s a fun role because it is a mix of like operational execution with like creative, like a lot of different creative stuff because you’re across all these different voices and niches and everything like that. So it’s great. Uh-huh. Any other questions about the business or anything like that that I can answer? [Andrew Cheng]: I think not. As of right now, nothing we haven’t discussed in the interview process. So I’m sure things will come up as I’m more integrated into the role. Cool. [Michael Houck]: I’m trying to think if there’s any other Slack channels I should add you to as well. You’re in the Megafon Studio channel, which is the main one for the team. That’s really where all the writers Hangout, where we talk about everything for Studio. And then I guess the client channels will be the other ones. I might loop you into, I don’t know, various other things over time. But I think for now, that’s probably enough. [Andrew Cheng]: OK. I do have a question, actually, just general. I’m kind of curious how your kickoff calls are, how they’re structured, or how your client meetings are. Because I’m just thinking of what I’ve known from my past of how I gather information, what I gather. And just how you gather all that information from the client. [Michael Houck]: Not the sales call, but the actual kickoff call once they’ve paid? Yeah. So it’s me, the writer, and the client. I’ll do an intro where basically I hype up the writer and if there’s any lingering questions from the sales call or from emails that we had after that from the client, I’ll sort of address those. And then from there, we have a notion doc template that the that the writer will walk through with the client. But before the call, we have the client fill out a type form and they can’t book the call without doing this. So we have it for for everybody. And so we get a lot of information about like the voice they want and their content preferences and their audience and things like that. But we’ll go deeper on that stuff with them on the call just to sort of build that trust, you know, face to face, like, I have the writer, share their screen and take notes so that it’s very high trust, like we actually are listening to you, etc. I, you know, you can see a copy of that doc in a lot of the client notion hubs, it’s the kickoff doc. So they just walk through that. And we record the calls too. So if you want to see one, I can share you like the recording of it. But then at the end, after they sort of go through the audience, and the voice, and the content pillars. They turn it back to me, and we talk about process operationally and next steps, like what the first week or two looks like, Because usually, we spend the first 1 to 1.5-ish weeks doing research before we deliver any content. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: So that’s it. [Michael Houck]: That’s basically the structure. It takes between 30 and 60 minutes. It’s actually something that I would love to get off my plate Eventually, you know, one of the other things we’ve thought about hiring for is like an account manager role. And so I don’t know what the timeline for that will be. But that’s the kind of thing where like, hey, if the content ops work isn’t taking up as much time as we thought, we could throw that in there to train you on how to do those calls. [Andrew Cheng]: Okay, that’s that was a big part of my last role, too. So that’s why I was more just curious about the role. But And that’s something I would be definitely OK with taking on if time permits, of course. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, of course. Top priority is sort of what we’ve talked about. But just as an example, there’s definitely other stuff to take on, too, if there is bandwidth. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: OK. Very cool. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Cool, man. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, I don’t really have anything else for right now. I think I’m just pumped. I’m just pumped you’re here. [Andrew Cheng]: Yeah, I’m very excited. This has been a fun day. But I’m definitely enjoying it. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, man. [Michael Houck]: Well, look, if any questions come up, Slack me anytime. Just say, hey, have five. We’ll hop on a huddle. No big deal. Very normal. I’m in Utah right now, so my hours are relatively similar to yours. I’m here for another couple of weeks. [Andrew Cheng]: OK, cool. A quick question about threads. This might be a silly question, but if we’re starting a new topic, I can start a new thread. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, of course. It’s just like, I like to see like a conversation. Cause what I do is when I’m in Slack, I will, I use Slack reminders for like everything. Like I have like 23 right now. Right. And so I hit the three dots. I set a reminder for like, remind me in three hours or remind me tomorrow or next week or whatever. Um, and then when I get back to that, I can just easily read the whole thread conversation. Um, actually, don’t know why people don’t use Slack like this, like, normally. It’s just so superior. I can see why it’s hectic. [Andrew Cheng]: We’ve gone back and forth with Slack in my previous roles for so many times. And I like that we use it here because everything else kind of stinks. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, like, you know, I wish we could go to like an async only communication platform because Slack is chaotic to be in there with all the conversation, everything like that. But it’s just not really So if we’re gonna fight hand-to-hand combat through like a synchronous communication slack is far and away the best the best. Yeah, I agree Yeah, so yeah, I said just please use threads But if you’re if you’re starting like and if you have a question on something else like for example from going back in in our chat For example you said like hey how happy Friday I just wanted to check in blah blah you could start a new thread with that because like a new, a new topic. Okay, cool. Cool, man. [Andrew Cheng]: Yeah, I think that’s all I had for right now. [Michael Houck]: All right, cool. Well, I’m pumped. Let’s chat again, I’d say either tomorrow or Wednesday. Just see how things are going. And are you and Ben are syncing like every day right now? Pretty much every day. Yeah. [Andrew Cheng]: Not pretty much. We are syncing every day. I pretty much want to see how he works. So that’s how I told him that’s how I learned best is by doing and If he shows me exactly what he does and I can regurgitate it, that’s a good sign for me. Cool. I agree. [Michael Houck]: That makes sense. So yeah, just let me know if anything comes up in the meantime, but we’ll chat either tomorrow or Wednesday just based on, I guess, I don’t know, if you feel like we need to chat tomorrow, we chat tomorrow. If not, we’ll chat Wednesday. Okay. And we can go from there. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Sounds good. [Andrew Cheng]: All right, man. All right. Thank you. [Andrew Cheng]: I’m excited to be here. See you, man. [Andrew Cheng]: All right. [Andrew Cheng]: See ya. Bye.
