[Max Palmer]: It wasn’t just food poisoning, but I don’t know. I, I, well, I think I told you last year I was having like weird health issues. [Michael Houck]: No, you didn’t tell me that. [Max Palmer]: Well, I was like, I was basically what happened on Wednesday has now happened seven times over the past year and a half. Um, basically where I get what the symptoms are of food poisoning and I feel like shit, body aches, chills, uh, and like fever. And then once I flush it out of me, it’s pretty much gone. And I’ve had it happen like seven times. This time, I’ve gotten basically a cold that’s extended. So the past two days, I’ve like the body aches and like chills have kind of extended. But yeah, it’s just like the weirdest thing. I’ve seen a doctor and they like, I got tested for different food allergies, but it’s like I wasn’t allergic to anything. So I don’t know. It’s weird, though. And it’s bad timing because I have a marathon in three weeks. [Michael Houck]: Yeah. No, it doesn’t sound like a food allergy. It’s like those symptoms. Yeah, I don’t know. That sucks, man. I hope it goes fully away quickly so you can get back to training. [Max Palmer]: I know. I was supposed to run two miles tomorrow, and that’s not gonna happen. [Michael Houck]: This is your first marathon, right? [Max Palmer]: Yeah, so there’s actually a chance, because these long runs, you’re really not supposed to miss them. So there’s a chance I might do the long run Monday morning, in which case I probably won’t get started for work around 12, but I’ll keep you updated. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, no, do your thing, man. Obviously, I hope you feel better by then so you can do it. [Max Palmer]: Yeah, we’ll see. [Michael Houck]: But yeah. Well, shit. Sorry to hear that. It sounds like a shitty week. [Max Palmer]: Yeah, it’s all right. At least it’s not happening during marathon week. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, fingers crossed. Well, OK. Maybe you just got COVID like seven times in a year. I don’t know. [Max Palmer]: This time it might actually. Because this is like, yeah, I don’t know, I should probably get tested. I mean, you know, what can I do, you know, it’s not gonna do anything. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, shit. Well, that sucks. [Max Palmer]: Okay, what do we what do we got? [Michael Houck]: Uh, let’s see. We are live with the podcast everywhere, which is nice. Um, so we’re starting to put out content again, which is good. And now I just need to get back on my LinkedIn game and start doing more of these vertical videos. So we’ll be building the brand again, which we really haven’t done for like six months or even longer cases. Um, so that’s good. I don’t think we have too much today. Uh, cause I’ve been so heads down. Basically we launched the megaphone V2 and they’re been like so many bugs, like literally the most bugs you can possibly imagine. And so I pulled two all-nighters this week with Raphael, like we’re just grinding away on it. And that’s really taken over my whole week, so I haven’t had time to think about it or do too much else. [Max Palmer]: Yeah, okay. Yeah, the podcast, where can we see analytics? Like we released it yesterday, right? [Michael Houck]: Yes, so it podcasts are really tricky. There’s this platform called Transistor, which distributes it to like all these different podcasts, platforms, I guess, obviously, including Spotify and Apple, but also a bunch of smaller, like long tail ones. And then Substack is not part of that. But they have their own podcast thing now. So I did that too. And then also on YouTube is like thing because you can’t post videos through a transistor, it’s audio only. So yeah, so I did all that. So over the weekend I’ll compile all of those into some dashboard that Rena can keep updated on a weekly basis or per video basis and we’ll go from there. [Max Palmer]: Okay. Yeah, I’m curious what the downloads are going to be. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, I mean I would imagine pretty low since it’s our first thing and again, you know, I posted on LinkedIn, I posted a little teaser video or whatever, but I haven’t been posting on LinkedIn in like, honestly, almost a year. And so it’s like, audience is not very activated. So I gotta work on that. [Max Palmer]: Yeah. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Okay. [Max Palmer]: So I guess on my end, so I’ll reply to micro one and say, let’s try it. Different copy. [Michael Houck]: Yeah. I mean, because you think about it, like even if they’re only getting a couple calls, you know, they sell one person and it’s worth it for them. Right. Because like one contract with them is like multiple thousands of dollars a month and they get, you know, probably like 30 or 40 percent of that. [Max Palmer]: Yeah. OK. And then I’m trying to do more just cool outreach. But then I got flagged. And so like yesterday, I did more like I did 10 more emails. And then I think I got flagged because my it was being weird. [Michael Houck]: We should just get you a different a different email address for this stuff like a different domain. [Max Palmer]: So that’s what I wanted to talk about is I know you set up the max at founding journey.com domain, right? Yep. Yep. So there’s that. [Max Palmer]: So, is that domain warmed up? Or is that email warmed up? [Michael Houck]: I warmed up my email on that domain, but I haven’t warmed up your email on that domain. [Max Palmer]: Okay. So, and what are you using to warm it up? [Michael Houck]: I think it’s called warmupinbox.com. [Max Palmer]: Okay. I thought we were using Mailforge. I thought Mailforge did the warmup. [Michael Houck]: Mailforge does the warmup for domains that are bought through Mailforge, which are specifically for outreach. Founding Journeys is our main domain now. [Max Palmer]: Okay, so then I won’t want to do outreach. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, definitely don’t do it from that domain. Definitely don’t. [Max Palmer]: Because I had been doing cold outreach with the halk.news domain. But not like the automated cold outreach. I was just doing like five emails today, 10 emails tomorrow, but it seemed like even that kind of made me flag. I mean, you got to think about it. [Michael Houck]: We’re sending, you know, 60,000 emails a couple of times a week for my email, plus all of our automated drips that go out too. [Max Palmer]: Right. [Max Palmer]: Okay. So I need like a completely separate email from [Michael Houck]: Yeah. So one thing I’ve done, um, actually like two weeks ago today is I bought, I think seven or eight domains, but you’re like, you know, get founding journey or whatever. Right. Um, through mail forge. And those have been warming up. I think I only set up one inbox per domain and with my name, because we’re going to use it for outreach. But what I can do is I can just buy an additional inbox on one of those for you couple of them for you if you want, and you can just use those. [Max Palmer]: Yeah. I mean, I need, I need like one like main email that I like do everything like this, this max at help. News email has been like my email account where you can reach me and that’s how I’ve done all account management, all followups, um, everything, all internal stuff too. Yeah. And so the problem with that is that I already have reminders in Superhuman set for Q1. Like literally some people have already told me reach out in Q1. And so then I set a reminder for Q1. And so now this is going to ping back in this inbox in Q1 and the rest of Q4 as well. So I’m like… [Michael Houck]: It’s not like, you know, it’s not like we’re going to delete Hawk.News, right? Like you can have different tabs in Superhuman, just keep that one, keep that one open. [Max Palmer]: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, OK, so so I guess, like, what should I do now? Like, I’m just going to keep using this help dot news email. [Michael Houck]: No, I mean, I’m going to I’ll get you I’ll figure out one of the founding journey domains that makes sense. You should use Max at founding journey dot com as your like main email for work related journey stuff. But for outreach specifically, I’ll get you a different one, one of these mail forged domains that you can use for that. That way we don’t sort of cross pollinate. So it’s like, if you’re sending outreach, send it through that one. If you’re, you know, talking to existing sponsors or literally anything else, just use the, the max at FoundingJourney.com. [Max Palmer]: Yeah. Okay. [Michael Houck]: And then keep the how.news one open in superhuman, just so you’re like aware of the, when those reminders sort of come up. [Max Palmer]: Yeah. I’m just going to have to do control two. Whatever shift to to switch through these emails constantly, but that’s, you know, that is what it is. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Yeah. [Michael Houck]: Okay. So I can do that today. Um, and yeah, I’ll send you, I’ll send you what that is. Um, the good news is since it’s been two weeks, we also have all these emails to start doing outreach for, uh, the ghost writing and more case studies. So after literally a very painful three and a half weeks where I fucked up the initial batch of domains that I bought and halfway warmed up and then had to redo it for everything, we’ll finally start bringing in more ghostwriting clients again, which is nice. [Max Palmer]: I actually just had a megaphone call with someone and they were interested, so I included you in that email. Cool. [Michael Houck]: Awesome. I can grab some more time with them. [Max Palmer]: I saw this studio venture scale with Jake. You said Max will send over some copy ideas before end of week. [Michael Houck]: He hasn’t paid yet. So I don’t know how much time we wanted to go to it. I pinged him last night. If he doesn’t get back to us by Monday, then I’ll ping him again and we can go from there. But yeah, no need to devote time to that until he commits. [Max Palmer]: Okay, I’ll hold off for now. [Max Palmer]: Okay, and then in terms of just like the rest of Q4, I don’t have a ton of high, like potential leads right now. So I’m hoping a lot of these cold emails that I’ve been sending and they have most of them have been getting opened. So at least they’re getting seen, it seems like they just they take a while to close. So we’ll see. [Michael Houck]: Okay, I mean, that’s all we can do. It looks like we’re I mean, if you assuming we get the by optimizers, podcasts add out this month, which we should, because I think it it’s set to go out, I guess what the week after the mark health one, which will be like the last podcast episode of the month. [Max Palmer]: Yeah. [Michael Houck]: Assuming that happens, then they should pay the second half. And then we’re waiting on a flat file, uh, which should also pay this month. Right. So assuming those, then we’re like a third of the way towards our goal. Um, if we can get, you know, I’d say at least 10 K in this month, that would be And we’ll get to see where we get to there. Yeah. [Max Palmer]: Okay. Yeah. And then Google Cloud and Robinhood are both through that agency, Buy Sell Ads. So they’re net 30. They’re net 30 from the date that it runs. [Michael Houck]: I think. [Max Palmer]: Right. I think so, too. Yeah. Yeah. So that’s why I put. Because this is going to run 1022, this is going to run eleven five, so that’s why I put those dates. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, I think that’s a safe, safe bet. That sounds good. Let’s see where we can get to here. I already trimmed some of our expenses, knowing that Q4 would be a little lighter. So we should be covered, so no worries or concern. But obviously, we want to get this up as much as possible. Because it’s funny, the way our business is structured right now, I’ve intentionally run Megaphone flat. And basically, founding journey and all other expenses are net out. So basically, the sponsorship money, it’s just pure profit. So anything we add to that is just pure profit for the business. So yeah, let me know where you think we can get to. We can check in again next week on it. But yeah, sounds good. Okay. [Michael Houck]: I don’t think there’s much else on my end right now. I have like a lot of random things I need to catch up on from spending so much time this week on these bugs. Um, yeah, we’ll probably have more to talk through on, on Tuesday or Wednesday, whenever we chat next week. [Max Palmer]: Okay. Uh, and then we’re not starting ads anytime soon yet. [Michael Houck]: Not yet. Um, I think let’s, let’s see how the, let’s see what the sponsor outlook is like, We do need to do it cause we do need to start getting new subscribers in there, but I want to get our SEO set up first. Tebow is going to give me a plan on Tuesday after doing strategy research right now. So on Tuesday, we’ll get that. And then once we’re sure that’s something we want to commit to for a while, then I’ll be like, all right, here’s how much budget we have for the ad side of things. And we’ll start doing that. [Max Palmer]: OK. And then in terms of the repositioning of the offer. [Michael Houck]: Yes. So there’s two things that are high priority, but have fallen. Because of this megaphone stuff. One is repositioning the offer. Two is the free course, the free email course for megaphone. Um, both of those things are on my plate. I just haven’t had time to even think about it this week. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Okay. [Michael Houck]: So we’ll check, we’ll check in next week on this. [Max Palmer]: Okay. Sounds good. [Michael Houck]: Um, okay. Cool, man. Um, Yeah, cool. Feel better. Thank you. See y’all.
