Decision
Lead Megaphone pitches to early-stage experimental founders with multiple video options (UGC, creator partnerships, founder brand build). Present Reddit Q&A as a secondary option, not the lead offer. Do not attach to any single service; adopt a full-menu approach across LinkedIn, newsletter, SEO, Reddit, and UGC video.
Context
After the Caroline Dell (Goodword) discovery call on 2026-08-18, Michael diagnosed that Reddit, while a strong offer, prices out early-stage founders who don’t yet have a clear SEO/GEO strategy. Video gets results faster, is easier to measure, and gives room to grow spend over time. Caroline’s situation - bringing in a GTM consultant and asking the team to direct her - showed a pattern where video is an easier on-ramp and more likely to win committee approval.
The broader principle: Megaphone’s strength is doing all services well. If a prospect doesn’t want one, pivot to another. This is the “full-menu” positioning that scales toward the long-term fund vision (portfolio companies paying near-cost for bundled internet visibility).
Options Considered
- Reddit-first pitch: strong underlying offer but prices out experimental founders and requires them to already understand SEO/GEO strategy value. Lost.
- Single-service attachment: rejected. Having multiple real offers means no desperation or over-pitching of any one service.
Consequences
- Goodword follow-up email (Michael, tonight 2026-08-18): lead with three video routes + Reddit Q&A as secondary.
- Future pitches to early-stage founders: lead with video, position Reddit as a complementary long-term play.
- Long-term: bundle vision for portfolio companies (big discount, all services, “we take care of visibility on the internet for you”).
