Decision
When a prospect books a discovery call, Hermes automatically scans their socials and business, then posts a summary (tagged to the relevant person the call is booked with) in the corresponding agency channel (#megaphone, jolt, etc.) before the call happens.
Context
Announced in ops alongside the broader client asset onboarding update. Michael said: “This also inspired a separate update, where we will now scan someone’s socials and business when they book a discovery call with us, and add that info (tagging the person the call was booked with) in the respective agency channel.”
Options considered
None stated. Follows naturally from the same automation logic as the kickoff pre-scan (which runs against existing clients pre-kickoff call).
Consequences
- Build or cron task needed: trigger on discovery call booking event (likely Calendly webhook or similar), run social scan, post to relevant agency channel.
- Owner: not yet assigned. Needs scoping.
- Companion to the existing kickoff pre-scan (already in Client asset intake (B-roll and media capture)).
Implementation (2026-08-02)
Built by Hermes. Cron job “Discovery Call Social Scan” (job d560a54f4fcc) runs every 15 minutes on the MacBook default profile. Script: ~/.hermes/scripts/discovery_scan.py.
Covers these event types: Brand Strategy Chats (Tatem), Megaphone Demo/Studio Chat/Studio Kickoff (Michael), Jolt Discovery Call (Blake Stewart), Chat/Quick Chat (Michael), 1hr + 30min Startup Consulting (Michael).
On each new booking: researches the prospect’s company, LinkedIn, and Twitter/X via web search, then posts a prep brief as a Slack DM to Michael (D0BLF19LD1Q). JOLT calls are flagged to forward to Blake Stewart. Tatem’s calls are flagged to forward to her (she is not in the Rye Valley Slack workspace).
State tracked in ~/.hermes/scripts/discovery_scan_state.json (processed invitee URIs). Silent when no new bookings. Note: Sales/discovery call prep (live since 2026-07-30) is the separate manual prep playbook - this is the automated counterpart, not a duplicate.
