Decision

Hard Calls brand rebuilt around an AI clone expert network: founders interact with AI clones of hundreds of curated experts; good answers prompt a paid call with the real expert. Experts set their own rates; Rye Valley takes a commission. 60K subscriber base used as leverage to recruit experts. Houckbot also embedded: post-signup quiz routes subscribers to 1:1 session, agency, or low-end offer.

Context

FJ Plus reskinning to Hard Calls Pro. Hard Calls site going live this week; rebrand launch targeting week of Aug 4. Expert recruitment requires structured 30-60 min interviews (incentivized by future paid call revenue from their clone). The interviewer agent is the next major build after JOLT.

Options considered

  • Newsletter-only rebrand: no new product; leaves the 60K audience underleveraged
  • Paid community model: higher friction, less differentiated
  • Agency-first (Megaphone-style): already exists; not additive

Consequences

  • Build sequence: Hard Calls site live (this week), rebrand launch (~Aug 4), expert recruitment + interviewer agent
  • After JOLT agents (end of next week), Ben pivots to expert onboarding ops and Lore agents
  • Hypothesis: Lore fulfillment can be fully automated
  • Kai flagged Rye (Daksa AI / Charlie Labs) as already building a similar pipeline on podcast data; worth a conversation before building from scratch
  • Experts incentivized: better clone training = more paid calls = more revenue
