[Michael Houck]: What’s up, man? [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Hey. [Michael Houck]: I’m debating between two different frameworks for the newsletter. I’ll just put in one. Yeah. Don’t, don’t spend too much time on it. Like it should be quick. Save the other one for next week. That’s what I’ll do. Um, yeah, there’s yeah. Frameworks are framework. So it’s all good. I just talked to New Form, like a past sponsor. They want to do a deep dive, which is great. Nice. Let’s go. Yeah. We could. If we get them, we get Midwestern, it’ll be two more deep dives in this quarter, which would be fantastic. VimCal, they’re really good. We’ll talk about it later. Hey, Michael. [Vicky Liu]: Hey, Ben. Nice to meet you, Ben. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Hello. [Vicky Liu]: Nice to meet you. How are you doing? I’m doing good. Good. Yeah, I mean, it’s a chill weekend. Happy Monday. Yeah, happy Monday. Yeah, I feel like I’m still jumpstarting my brain. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, I always feel like that Monday morning, and I’m like, oh, wait, I actually have work to do. I should do things. Greg, sorry about the kind of false start with the information. I’m still not sure exactly what form you filled out, but glad we’re chatting now at least. [Vicky Liu]: Yes, yeah, same here. I think it was just the email capture in the first half of the landing page where it says, like, get started. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Yeah, that makes sense. [Vicky Liu]: Yeah, yeah. We’re finally getting to connect. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Yeah. [Michael Houck]: Um, so yeah, I guess, um, any context you want to share on kind of where you’re at, how you think megaphone could help. And then I can sort of explain how it works and, and, and we go from there. [Vicky Liu]: Yeah. Yeah. So, um, so juice box has a upcoming product launch and we’ve, we’ve done like announcements before that work pretty well from like our co-founders account. Um, and I guess like we just went to the dabble a little bit more into social. And this upcoming launch is like the timeline is sort of aggressive. We’re trying to aim for this Thursday. Oh, wow. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, that’s like the urgency and like why like I reached out via email. But yeah, we were thinking like maybe might be worth it to try Megaphone out and see like if we can amplify like both co-founders posts on Thursday. So that’s kind of the context. Okay, makes sense. [Michael Houck]: Excuse me. So basically, the way it works is, I’m sorry, I have some phlegm in my throat. So I might be coughing during this a little bit. But yeah, so what works, you sign up on a per account basis. So if you want to do this for both accounts, you sign up for for two accounts. But once you have an account signed up, you can take a post URL basically, as soon as the post goes live on social, grab the URL, drop it into Megaphone, and then you’ll be presented with some options that you can select. And these will save for the future. So you just have to set them the first time. But basically, you can pick what countries you want creators from You can pick what types of engagements you want, commentary posts, quotes, or some combination of those. You can pick the minimum follower size for the creators who are going to engage. And maximum if you want, and some other filters as well. But the most important things are you can set a budget. So say you want to put $30 behind this post, or $100 behind this post, or whatever the case may be. And then you can also write a short bit of context that will actually forward to the creators alongside the URL so they know what to say in their replies. Once you do that, we kind of ingest the post. We match it with the best fit. And best value creators who are currently online at that moment. And then we’ll send it to them via WhatsApp or Telegram or whatever they’ve chosen. And they’ll get the URL. They’ll get the type of engagement to do. And they’ll get the little note that you gave them. And then they know to go and engage with that post right away. If they don’t engage within one hour, you’re not charged for them. And we will look for another creator to send it to instead. So basically, you’ll get a mix of larger creators, smaller creators, whoever’s online at that moment based on who’s the best fit and best value. [Vicky Liu]: Got it. OK. Yeah, that makes sense. I guess I’m sort of curious how often creators see the megaphone notification. Sorry. Yeah, if they have to be online. [Michael Houck]: per se for this yes they give us their availability like hours when they sign up and so we we know if they’re sort of active or be able to receive posts at that time or not um and so uh you know I think our our rate of and you know ben can correct me if I’m wrong here but our rate of sending the requests the request being completed is is over 80 um each and every week so um yeah and again if if it’s not accepted by that first then we’ll just send it to another one, and it’s only an hour delay. [Vicky Liu]: Gotcha. OK. And then I guess hypothetically, if we say our budget is 5K, just a hypothetical number, how many creators do you think we could get to boost the post? [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Yeah, tons. [Michael Houck]: Absolutely tons. You probably won’t even need that full budget, to be honest. A good way to think about it is for every 100,000 followers that a creator has, they’re going to increase the price of a comment by roughly $10. So reposts and quotes are more expensive and vary significantly from creator to creator. Some creators like to do them. Others don’t so much. And they price accordingly. But we have at this point, I think, like 400 or 500 creators on the platform in various niches. So for that kind of budget, even down between two posts, I mean, you’re going to get a ton of folks who are in either repost, quote, comment, all of the above, whatever you sort of want them to do. [Vicky Liu]: Gotcha. Okay, yeah, that makes sense. And then in terms of creators, are people just like signing up as a creator on the platform or? [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: No. [Michael Houck]: So when people go through the onboarding flow, we run a scraping bot in the background while they’re filling out their information. And we pull how many followers they have. And if they have over 20,000 followers, we give them the option to sign up as a creator further in the flow. If they don’t have 20,000 followers or more, then they never even see that option. [Vicky Liu]: Got it. OK, so all the creators have more than 20k followers. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, I think there’s like two or three who joined before we implemented that, that are personal friends of mine that I know who are like in the 10 to 20 range, but it’s 20 and above is our threshold. [Vicky Liu]: Got it. OK, yeah, that makes sense. And then the other question that I had was so right now our product mostly caters to either recruiters that are in-house at tech companies or recruiters that run their own agency or work for a some sort of like sourcing or recruiting agency. I’m wondering if you know if you have creators in your network that would have an audience that fits that particular profile or is it more towards like other niches? [Michael Houck]: I mean I’m not gonna say that you know like the the recruiting tech is our most the niche we have the most coverage in but we do have coverage in the niche and we also have a lot of sort of the the tech startup entrepreneurship type creators who those people probably follow anyway so I can’t give specific names because we keep everyone anonymous but we’ve had people sign up in this niche before and stick with us for quite a long time. [Vicky Liu]: So it’s not something I’d be worried about. Gotcha. OK. Got it. OK, yeah, that makes sense. And is there some sort of way that I can see the platform or is it? [Michael Houck]: Yeah, we have, I think, Ben, Maybe if you want to send over a quick Loom walkthrough later today, we can send that over. We can’t share, as I said, the names of the specific creators, which is the more common question that we get when we chat with people. But platform-wise, yeah, happy to share. [Vicky Liu]: OK, cool. Yeah, just because I’m going to probably talk to one of the co-founders later, and I’ll need to get buy-in for this. So it’s easier to have supporting documents. Yeah, no doubt. [Michael Houck]: No doubt. That’s totally fine. And we’re also launching something, won’t be ready for you for this launch for you guys, but just knowing sort of who you’re going after too. We’re gonna be launching a new feature next month where you can partner with creators on the platform in more ways than just like engagements, right? So sort of an all one, all encompassing creator partnership platform with this network of folks that we’ve built. So whether that’s newsletters, podcasts, sponsored posts, testimonials, Twitter spaces, whatever the case may be, we’ll have those options too pretty soon. [Vicky Liu]: Got it. Awesome. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, that sounds pretty cool. Yeah, we’ve got a lot of requests for it. [Vicky Liu]: It’s been a long time coming, but almost ready. Nice. And then, let’s see. Are you able to provide an estimate of impressions? Yeah. It’s dependent on which creators boost. It’s actually more dependent on the content side of things, I would say. [Michael Houck]: Like the content itself, in order to get the most value out of Megafone, the content itself needs to be good, right? Megafone is going to maximize the impressions any piece of content is going to get, but it’s not going to turn content that wouldn’t perform into content that does perform. So the way I like to think about it is what you’re paying for with Megafone is reach and how well the post captures that reach. In terms of impressions is dependent on what else is competing in the news feed for people’s attention that day, and also the quality of the content itself. So yeah, can’t specify, but we see lots of launches, fundraising announcements, things like that. It’s a very common use case. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: OK. [Vicky Liu]: Got it. OK. Yeah, that’s helpful. And like, is there a way to estimate what you think our budget should be based on like our particular use case? Yeah. [Michael Houck]: Be like a post with like a product announcement, basically. [Vicky Liu]: Yeah. [Michael Houck]: I mean, I would say at least a few hundred bucks into the low four figures between the two posts, you probably don’t need to go too far beyond that in order to see, you know, in order to basically kick the post off and kind of let the algorithm take it. Take it from there. I would recommend doing, if you’re going to do reposts and quotes, I’d recommend going on the higher end of the budget. If you’re going to do focus on comments and therefore like the social proof rather than just maximizing the reach, I’d recommend staying in the mid to lower side of that range because comments are cheaper than than reposts and quotes [Vicky Liu]: generally speaking. Got it, okay. Got it, and then how many like do you think we would be able to get? Or what do people see on average? [Michael Houck]: It’s going to vary based on the budget and also who’s online that day. You could get a few very large creators with hundreds of thousands of followers who charge a lot more or you could get an army of smaller creators in the 20 to 50k range who charge a lot less or some mixture of the two. That’s based on the algorithm and how it matches you with the creators at that time. And also sort of the settings you set when you’re delivering the post. [Vicky Liu]: Got it. Settings you set when you’re delivering the post. What does that mean? [Michael Houck]: Yeah, like as I mentioned, like the minimum and maximum kind of follower audience size, you get to pick that when you’re sending us the post. [Vicky Liu]: Got it. OK. Yeah, that makes sense. Is there like an optimal time? To like submit this post for maximum amount of creators? [Michael Houck]: Yeah, so early morning is going to be going to be your best bet. That’s when most people are online. That’s when you have the least competition for other fresh content on social in general. And that’s when most creators are actively engaging with the replies to their own posts and therefore are most engaged with with social during the day. [Vicky Liu]: Gotcha. OK, yeah, that all. Makes sense. Okay, cool. Yeah, I think this all makes sense. If you guys could send over that Loom video so I could use it as collateral. Yeah, sure. We’ll get that over to you today. [Michael Houck]: Also, you mentioned that you guys have been doing posts for, I guess, both co-founders before in the past and have seen good success. Are you guys using a ghostwriter or is that written by the team? How do you guys, how do you guys do that today? [Vicky Liu]: Um, I’m pretty sure the co-founders just kind of wrote it themselves. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Yeah. [Vicky Liu]: I think maybe they got like the YC page to be posted at some point. And I think that also helps. And so, yeah, I mean, we, we were interested in megaphone because we wanted to try out like different just ways to amplify it and see like what might bring the most eyeballs on it. So yeah. So that’s my understanding of the path. Post. But that was like before I joined, yeah. [Michael Houck]: We can also, when we send the loom, we’ll send over a little TLDR. We do ghostwriting for a bunch of folks, both for social and for newsletters as well. We’ve actually had some YC companies reach out to us recently, and then we started doing it for them. So yeah, we’ll send it over too if that’s of interest, but no pressure. Yeah, yeah. [Vicky Liu]: Feel free to send it Sounds good. Any other questions right now, Vicky? No other questions. I guess, like, how long does it take to get, like, fully onboarded to the platform just so I can, like, plan ahead? [Michael Houck]: Oh, a couple of minutes. I mean, you just need to… We’ll run the scraper in the background so that might add, like, a minute to onboarding, but it’s relatively quick. [Vicky Liu]: Gotcha, gotcha. Okay, cool. That sounds great. Yeah, thank you both so much. All right, chat soon. Chat soon. Bye. [UNKNOWN_SPEAKER]: Thanks.
