UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Let’s go. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Hey. [Nicole Jarbo]: Hey. You look like you’re in a nice place. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, it’s my little cabin in the middle of Patagonia. [Nicole Jarbo]: That’s awesome. Dude, that’s cool. You just have such a great life. [Michael Houck]: Well, the reason I’m here is because I got divorced last month. So I’m traveling around South America just to chill out. Shit. It’s summer down here. [Nicole Jarbo]: Congratulations slash I’m sorry. It was my decision. I took too long to make it. [Michael Houck]: Basically, I won’t bore you with the details, but we wanted to have kids. She changed her mind. [Nicole Jarbo]: It’s a deal breaker for me. Yeah, that’s fair. Yeah, I understand that. Eva and I have had our series of ups and downs, expectations changing, changing yeah it’s it’s rough well I mean you know what you want I do and now I just have to figure out where to live to find it there’s like eight billion people on the planet and you’ll you’ll be great well I am I’m sorry to hear that because change is hard but also I’m happy that you’re focused on what you want yeah I do think people not in a weird pronatalist way, but I do think having kids is awesome for people. Whether they’re having their own kids or adopting kids, I just think it’s a good thing for the world in general. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Yeah. [Michael Houck]: In my opinion, kids are great. We need more of them, so I want to be part of that. [Nicole Jarbo]: Yeah. Cool. All right. Well, that’s awesome. Look, you got to come back and spend some time in San Francisco. Of like girls to guys is like out of control. Yeah. [Michael Houck]: I, um, I loved living in SF because everyone said it was really hard to date as a guy in SF. But what I realized is that most of the guys in SF don’t know how to date. Right. So if you’re not weird, it’s actually a great place to live. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Yeah. [Nicole Jarbo]: You, you, you do well. And now, you know, I, everyone’s over the whole Miami is the place to be thing. Right. And moving back. Um, so anyways, uh, well, yeah. And if you do spend some time back here, let me know. We can go get like drinks or something. I would love that. Uh, it’d be good to be good to hang in person. [Michael Houck]: Um, yeah, I’ll probably come back for a little bit. I don’t know when I’m going to do a little Southern us tour when I get back to the States and try out a few new cities, but maybe later this year I’ll make a couple of week pit stop and SF and see how it goes. [Nicole Jarbo]: Yeah. I mean, I’ve spent, I lived in New Orleans for, I mean, five years. It’s gotta, gotta stop there. If you’re going that, going that route. You know, as a, as a newly divorced man, like it’s a great spot, maybe not finding wifey materials, but definitely for having fun. Finding, finding something, right? [Michael Houck]: Yeah. [Nicole Jarbo]: I was talking to a friend of mine, actually Tom, who does the Cantela stuff with me, his fiance is having her bachelorette in New Orleans and She was like after that the whole car crashing thing tickets. It’s like skyrocketed Yeah, you’re never gonna stop people from a good party Like everybody probably had the same idea like no one’s gonna want to go here and just like tickets are out of control Cool. Anyways, I know these calls are short and I’m like, I’m not I’m hitting the I All of the end-of-year compliance shit is just happening. Okay, so I owe you a form too. So I’m sorry for For something there. [Michael Houck]: So I have it in my email like a w9 or whatever it is Did Tom ask you for that? Yeah, I think I got it automatically from from somebody. So yeah Yeah, so I guess I’ll throw it to you Like, let’s talk about the newsletter. [Nicole Jarbo]: Let’s talk about growth. Yeah. I think it kind of high level, like with Cantella, I haven’t been able like with rise and roll, I haven’t been able to spend as much time on like the promotion growth side of it. We do have like several hundred more folks like we could add. Um, I think the content’s really good. I was just going through the last ideas. I think it really good. What’s been a little. Is Tom sort of changes his mind constantly about what we should be doing. And I’m like, that’s fine. I think my whole thing is we should focus on how to grow this. And so I’m kind of open to anything. I know you guys have this kind of email outreach thing that you’re doing. So if we need to talk about that, let me know. Otherwise, if it can happen async, I’m down to do it via Slack too. [Michael Houck]: I can give you like the quick TLDR on how it works now. And then, okay. So yeah, I mean, look, we started doing this for my newsletter sort of just to experiment with it and it’s worked really well. So we actually started taking on some clients for it. And then actually I just got off a call before this with, with my lawyer, my friend and I, Matt, who is like the email guru, we’re setting up an actual LLC around this And so we can do business. Basically, the way it works is that we built a database of 200 million people’s emails, sort of like you would get from ZoomInfo or Apollo or something like that. The difference is they have like demographic information, job title, whatever. What we’ve done is we’ve actually scraped every social media platform. And so we have information on who they follow, what they talk about, what they engage with, what’s in their bio. And we’ve turned that into structured data that we can query against. So obviously a ton of cool stuff we can do with that. But the first thing we want to do is just build a bunch of media assets and get some cashflow coming into the business. So basically we can, you know, get whoever is super targeted to the rise and roll brand and who would buy Cantela products and get them on the list. And we’re able to do it for cheaper than you could get through like paid ads, like Facebook ads for newsletter or something like that. Like with that, you’re going to spend probably realistically like $2 to 250 per subscriber, maybe a little less than that. With us, we can do it for $1 or a little bit less, depending on scale. And so what we’ve seen is that the open rates that we get from this, because it’s so targeted, are very, very high, because the content is very, very relevant to these people. So we’re seeing the lowest open rate we’ve seen is 57%. The highest is 75%. And the click rates are all better than the average for the news or whatever that average is, obviously it’s going to vary a lot. So that’s it. We’ve started setting it up for a few clients. And every single client we’ve set it up for has gone from a test to being a paid customer. And one of them has just expanded to 32,000 per month. They’re on the hook for them now. So it’s pretty exciting. And so, yeah, that’s what we would do. We’d have somebody, our ops guy would go into the Beehive account, set up some segments and automation to like automate the process of making sure they meet the engagement criteria they need in order to graduate to the full newsletter. But, um, yeah, that’s it. It’s pretty hands off for you. We’d send you weekly reports on how people are doing, how many subscribers we’re adding, things like that. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Cool. [Nicole Jarbo]: Is this something, I don’t remember how much we’re paying you for rise and roll. Is this something that we already have in? Okay, cool. So I won’t deal with that. [Michael Houck]: You guys have, have added 500 a month extra for us to do this. So I think it’s been like three months. So we owe you like the first 1500 now that we’re ready to start doing this or the first. Yeah, I guess I guess it’d be the first 1500. [Nicole Jarbo]: I hate doing public math. Good work. [Michael Houck]: But beyond that, we would, we would do however many you wanted. We could do 10,000 a month, we could do 2000 a month, whatever Cool. [Nicole Jarbo]: Uh, yeah, let’s just like turn that on for rise and roll. Um, so I feel good about that conversation. Let’s do the same thing for playground posts. And I think what, what we can do is add on to whatever we’re paying you guys, we can add on like a thousand bucks. So if we could start there for a couple months, let’s do that. And if it’s just like going gangbusters, we’ll probably put more into it. Um, I’m like I’m finally at this part where ops is almost done at 4.0 Which I thought was gonna be like a two-month project became a seventh month project and it sucks, but I’ve been able to like cut a lot of fat and Where I want to put that money is into like growing playground post So yeah, let’s start with like an extra we could actually probably start with an extra 1250 a month You’ll have to tack on to whatever we’re paying you guys I’m going to send you a form. It’s a little bit long. [Michael Houck]: I’m sorry. Let’s get the ICP exactly right for these emails. So I’ll send that to you later today. Cool. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: This is awesome. [Nicole Jarbo]: And then I have Lauren on my team. I worked with her in Boost and when I was doing stuff by myself and I’m like, can you help us be legitimate? We can’t pay you full time. But I need adult supervision.” And she was like, why don’t you just have HALC do all the growth for this? Instead of like every month watching people like unsub and be like, what do we do? I’m like, that’s a really good idea. Like, let me just go find like the money to like do that. There we go. Yeah. Happy to help. What are we, we’re at 4k with you guys or like 39.95 right now? [Michael Houck]: For a Playground Post it’s Yeah, and for Rise and Roll, it’s the four, because we added the extra 500 on first. [Nicole Jarbo]: Got it. All right. For Playground Post, we could make that a, wait, it’s 35. We can make that an even five. So just fill the gap. Got it. And then we’ll start there. And if it’s crashing, we’ll just do more. [Michael Houck]: OK. That sounds great. I’ll send over the form. Update the, the strike stuff. So you might see a prorated charge coming through for starting next week. And then we’ll get started on rise and roll too. So we catch up to the 1500 that we owe you guys. And if, if you like that beyond the 1500 and beyond 500 a month, let me know. [Nicole Jarbo]: Yeah, I think, I think with rise and roll, we just have to like, get it, get it going. I mean, cause I’m, you know, I’m like bullish on newsletters. Doesn’t really get them. Yeah. Sure. And I’m like, you, you just gotta, we, we just have to like invest in it, invest in it. And then we need to put together, like your job is to put together compelling offers for these people. Like, like my job is to like work with people like how can Austin to like make it high quality. Um, so yeah, it all sounds great. So I’m down. Down. [Michael Houck]: Okay, cool. I’ll get that all taken care of tonight. And then and then we’ll we’ll get it rocking and rolling. [Nicole Jarbo]: Sweet. All right. Enjoy the cabin. Enjoy your new freedom. And yeah, I’m like I said, sorry, and also excited for you. No, honestly, I was. [Michael Houck]: I was sad in 2024. In 2025. I feel like I made exactly the right decision. I feel great about it. [Nicole Jarbo]: Perfect. Well, anyways, let me know if you need anything else from me, but I’m really excited to have you guys on this part of it. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, me too. And I’ll send you the form, and we’ll get things going. But I feel like we’ve built up these assets over a few months, and I’m excited to start getting in front of more people, basically. So I’m pumped. [Nicole Jarbo]: You’ve never let me down, except the one time you did my side piece. But other than that, we’re good. Everything else has been gravy, so I’m excited. All right, I’m gonna go take a shower and do this next call. See ya, thanks.
