[Ben Ornstein]: Yo, so all I said sent me the the CSV what was spent. OK, great, so 110 was spent. Yeah, that’s what it looks like, [Michael Houck]: OK, cool, great, because what I’m going to do is I’m going to refund him for the difference just so he doesn’t dispute those other payments and then we’ll hold on to the 110 but the rest will be will be UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: refunded. [Ben Ornstein]: Got it, this fucking guy. Oh, I saw multiple. I’m like, you’ve got to be shitting me. [Michael Houck]: Some people are just, you know, I don’t know. [Max]: Anyway, Max, what’s up, man? [Michael Houck]: Hey. How are we? UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: We’re good. [Michael Houck]: We’re better than we were yesterday. Southern Brazil. Well, I mean, I’m in Argentina and Patagonia right now. [Max]: Oh, yeah, that’s right. [Michael Houck]: That’s is the worst travel day that I’ve had. Probably in like, I don’t know, three or four years. And the Airbnb I’m staying in is like not at all. I mean, it’s the place is nice, but outside of the actual. House, the rest of it is not at all. It was described. There’s no amenities. It’s in the middle of the woods. They partner with some resort that’s like kilometers away that I have to drive up this like very precarious, dirty cliffside road to get to to get any amenities and that was the You showed me a picture of right? Yeah, it’s fucking beautiful, but It’s not at all. It’s like very deceptively marketed So I’m I’m in the process of trying to get a refund the host was very combative, but the Airbnb people hopefully help out. Yeah I didn’t rent a car too and like They didn’t have the car that I booked they reservation was booked at a different Hertz location than the airport So I did take an Uber to get to the it was just a day of fucking chaos is so bad. Yeah. [Max]: But yeah, how was your flight back? I was good. It’s just a red eye typical. [Michael Houck]: Ben, you missed out. Max and I had a steak in in Buenos Aires the other day. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: That’s incredible. [Michael Houck]: Yeah. It was nice. I was done. What’d you think? I didn’t make it there. Oh, really? Yeah, I did two nights of tasting menus and wine pairings in the two nights before I just I woke up and I texted Liam and I was like, dude, I can’t do it. So I’ll never know. But yeah. OK, so we were going to chat now about But I think it makes sense for Ben to take some more time to finalize questions. Ben, I know you’ve reviewed everything, but let’s hold off till tomorrow for the rest of it. So let’s use this time, or at least the first part of it, for just thoughts on PLG for Megaphone. And then I will begin my long trek to the gym after that. So, yeah, I guess when you guys went through things, what are some thoughts? I’ll probably take some notes during the call. [Max]: Yeah. So, I mean, I signed up for Megafona. I’m holding off on doing my Google thread because Twitter is just full of fucking politics right now. That thread’s never going to get posted. I know. There’s really never a good time. And then politics happens and I just know it wouldn’t do anything right now. [Michael Houck]: Just wait for wait. For some other news of Google’s decline, and then just like, yeah. [Max]: I know, that’s what I, yeah. But I don’t think I’m gonna wait that long. But what I found, when I signed up and created my own account, the inner circle icon didn’t pop up. Is that not live yet? [Michael Houck]: I’m finishing testing today, and we’re hoping it can go either tomorrow or early next week. [Max]: Okay. So then I also looked at the dashboard with Inner Circle Live from the development side of things that Raphael gave me access to. Got it. And it really just looks the same as sharing a broadcast, except you just kind of click your inner circle. But a few things I just jotted down as ideas. One would be a competition. Dashboard, where you’re competing with people with your inner circle, people who have similar accounts to you, like similar follower numbers to you. So some type of challenge or competition. And then I think a streaks future might be helpful too. I have the same idea. Yeah. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Yeah. [Max]: I mean, every app kind of does a streaks future nowadays, but particularly with social media, because you know how important it is to post consistently. All of these platforms, they reward consistency. And I almost think we need to say that. I say that on a lot of my megaphone demos when the demos turn into consulting calls. And I say that to everyone, but I think a Streaks future could potentially be useful. I just don’t think people are going to use Megaphone for every single they’re definitely not going to use Megaphone for every post. But if the Streak feature just can note that they’ve posted that day and they get their streak continues if they post rather than if they I don’t know if this is right rather than if they actually amplify I’m not sure it could be. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, we we would need to build another scraper component for that, which we could do. Because we need to check their profiles every day, even if. Yeah, even if they’re not, because we don’t use the API, so maybe it’s a streak of when they actually amplify with megaphone and they can set how often they want to do it. [Max]: And if they continue that streak, then they get rewarded with something or you know something like that. I don’t know. And then also just like a comparison dashboard, which is kind of similar to a competition dashboard, but just like a comparison dashboard where they see other anonymous accounts that are at a similar follower count to theirs and they can see how their posts are comparing to others using the platform. That’s smart. [Michael Houck]: I like that because then you can you can feed that into recommendations about if their content isn’t performing, here are some help center articles or here’s a free course or something like that. Yeah. [Max]: So, yeah, those are the ideas I had. And then also one thing I this doesn’t really have to do with product growth, but when I was onboarding and I was picking out my niches, there were only like 15 niches to choose from Is that right? [Michael Houck]: Yeah, we we probably need to do an audit and make it more custom. Maybe two or just add more. We try to do it where we have the best creator coverage. Yeah, but I agree we need to do something about that. [Max]: Because because Rena had sent me the list of niches that we have covered. Yeah, because I would refer to that in a lot of megaphone demos and then I mean we have dozens covered, Many of them only have a few creators in it, so it really doesn’t even make sense to list that when they’re onboarding. So anyways, that was just another thought. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, I think the plan will be launch InnerCircle, hopefully see some organic growth from that, both on the creator side and the user side. And then as those numbers start to increase, do an audit of the niches and expand where we have more coverage. Yeah. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Cool. [Michael Houck]: Um, I like all those challenges or something that’s been on our roadmap for like V2 of the group’s features, like post inner circle challenges. Um, just like ongoing pods, not related to your inner circle company level stuff. If you want to do one for your, for your like team with a slack integrate. Um, so that’s all probably in the, like the spring roadmap, I would say. But the streaks comparison dashboard. Those are things I hadn’t thought of Those are really good. I thought of something similar in terms of streaks. [Ben Ornstein]: I think of just like when I go to beehive and I send my the weekly email. I get that little badge that says you’ve done this many weeks in a row. It doesn’t even have to be so complex that it’s like a scraper. It could be like even logging into megaphone like logging to the Just can just kind of training them to come back to the dashboard and that will in turn a few of those will then end up actually broadcasting more often because of a small little badge. The badge doesn’t have to mean anything. It can just be the fact that it’s a badge that rewards them and just like teaches them to come back kind of thing. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, agreed, agreed. We probably want to do it based on them taking an action. So like sharing a broadcast or something, but I agree that. It’s like similar to Beehive sharing a newsletter, but I agree that it doesn’t necessarily need to have a reward other than here it is. [Ben Ornstein]: Yeah, and then in terms of actual rewards though, there could be something like, If you broadcast something certain amount of times a month. You get you could get one one day of, you know, a batch of three posts generated by Megaphone Studios writers. And that would have to be obviously something a pretty high bar like they’d have to hit like a certain amount of amplifications. These are just thoughts. I don’t know how great ideas they are, but And then in terms of the leaderboard, I was thinking where we have that carousel up top on the dashboard that shows like megaphone studios and then I kind of like it’s a carousel. Forget what the other thing is. The banners, yeah, we could easily have something that’s interlinked with their inner circle dashboard that shows like, you’re currently in third place in your inner circle. And like, that could be something that’s shown on the dashboard rather than the inner circle page. Be like, you’re in third place of 10 on your dashboard, on your inner circle leaderboard, I mean. [Michael Houck]: I think that would be tough to do for inner circle, but it’d be easy to do for other types of The reason would be your inner circle. You’re not actually in your inner circle. Your inner circle is a broadcast group to specific people, right? So like I would get notified about how I’m doing in Ben’s inner circle, right? Maybe, but Ben wouldn’t notified about that, but it’s probably easier to like more coherent for them to do it for like a like a, you know, a tech big tech LinkedIn in under 5000 follower group, right? Anyone who’s in there, they get notified about how they’re doing in that particular group, because it’s like objective. There’s no person as the center of that group. It’s more decentralized. [Ben Ornstein]: That’s probably the better way to do it. [Michael Houck]: I like the idea of dynamic banners that right now there’s just static images that link somewhere, but making them dynamic like that would be would be very cool. [Ben Ornstein]: And the other ones that in terms of dynamic banners, the things that came up You could have the post with the most reach be like shown on there. Here’s your, just in terms of, I’m thinking of as a caster, I’m like, okay, I’m creating more content on megaphone, which, which posted the best, even easier than on the dashboard. This post had this much reach. Um, great job. I don’t know. Um, and then like a separate one to be like your average amount of characters per post is this. This. [Michael Houck]: Yeah, it could be cool to do like to do like insights, right? Like that’s kind of what I’m getting at. Yeah, your your post do 10% better when they’re 20% shorter or something like that. Yes, that’s exactly what I’m thinking. Stuff like that when you post at 9 AM versus 4 PM, right? [Ben Ornstein]: Yeah, and then a very simple one on that on that banner where it shows the megaphone studios bar. We can also just say like invite people to your inner circle and like just. For sure, that’s a simple one, but [Michael Houck]: Yeah, I think like a group link there too. The idea of just making those more is very compelling and probably not crazy hard to pull off either. So we just need Selene to create some variable design elements that the engineers can sort of intersperse randomly as they see fit and then set the functionality too. So I really like that. I think we’ll do that. Cool. Like invitations to people off platform. Cause obviously the biggest driver of growth is going to be like direct, directly increasing the K factor. Um, so. Inner circle does that inherently other groups will do that inherently, maybe challenges. There can be ways to work that into that too. Anything that we’re missing there that, that we can also do. [Ben Ornstein]: I was looking at referrals and just was trying to see if there’s any way to improve it. It’s a pretty simple process. It seems like we have what we need there in terms of what’s needed. I’m trying to think if there’s something creative we can do to make that more interactive. I don’t know, people customizing the referral links. Does that, how much of an impact does that have? [Michael Houck]: Well, the URLs are going to be their, their username, whatever their username is automatically. So I also, I don’t think customizing it would necessarily drive more, more shares. [Ben Ornstein]: Just spitballing. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Yeah. [Ben Ornstein]: Well, so the options are just WhatsApp, Telegram, text or email. Would it be easy to share directly to different social platforms? Maybe. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Yeah, maybe. [Michael Houck]: Although, again, this goes back to the kind of core issue here, which is that when it comes to social media, growth, which is that, um, for megaphone specifically, uh, which is that where people aren’t going to want to necessarily advertise that they’re using a service like megaphone, except in kind of one-on-one or trusted group, uh, settings. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Yeah. Yeah. [Ben Ornstein]: I meant more of like, okay, I don’t, I have someone I talk with regularly on Twitter and I would DM them the link directly, like share. That’s more of what I was Yeah, we could do like a Twitter DM. [Michael Houck]: That’d be fine. They could also just copy the link and paste it in themselves at that point, but I think that’s true too, yeah. [Ben Ornstein]: Just more of like user experience, making it cleaner is the only thing I can think of there. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: That makes sense. [Michael Houck]: One last step. All right. Well, I think these are some good ideas. Streaks, comparison dashboard, the emphasis on challenges to the badge, dynamic banners, great one. I think this gives us enough to sort of build some fun stuff into the platform over the spring. So anything that we haven’t talked about that you guys have thought of [Max]: No, I think that’s everything on my end. [Ben Ornstein]: Yeah, that’s all I had. [Michael Houck]: Okay, cool. Well, this is fruitful. So I’m gonna start adding this stuff to linear in the backlog and we’ll prioritize it as it comes up in upcoming sprints. So. OK, we can grab 10 minutes back then, guys. Well, yeah, Max, thanks for sending all that stuff I reviewed once. [Ben Ornstein]: I’m going to do it. I want to review a second time, so I have like an even firmer grasp on it and then I’ll ask questions for when we do chat. [Max]: Yeah, and just just ping me with any questions or we’ll just we’ll chat tomorrow. I know that, but let me know if you want to chat more. [Ben Ornstein]: Sounds good. Thanks. UNKNOWN_SPEAKER: Yeah. [Michael Houck]: If you guys want to chat and hop on, obviously don’t, don’t stand on ceremony for me. Um, so cool. [Max]: Ben, just let me know.
