FLAG: CLIENT POSTING CONCERN - review same day

What happened

Hermes sent Will a briefing note about a $4.2B DOE loan to upgrade Ohio nuclear plants (including Perry), with Energy Secretary Chris Wright announcing it and Sen. Moreno framing it as power Ohio needs to bring manufacturing back from China.

Will replied in Will’s own words:

“This is worth writing about but this angle comes across as a little critical of the loan”

Blake Stewart acknowledged: “Ok, we’ll work on the angle and get a draft over soon.” Blake Emal tagged for visibility.

What this means

Will is supportive of Ohio nuclear investment and the DOE loan. The specific angle - framing via Moreno’s manufacturing-vs-China message - read to Will as implicitly questioning or critiquing the loan rather than straightforwardly covering it. Will wants the topic covered with a neutral-to-positive frame on the loan itself.

Pattern (additive to Will Hinman - political sensitivity flags)

Will is politically adjacent in Ohio (workforce development, government networks). He has flagged at least twice now that angles which could be read as critical of Ohio political figures or Ohio government-adjacent investments are a no-go, even when the underlying story is legitimate. The test is: does the framing implicitly critique the decision-maker or the policy? If yes, hold or reframe before sending to Will.
