What happened

A Goodword contact saw a $995 charge appear on their Ramp card under “Lore Builders” and did not recognize it. They assumed it was fraud and cancelled the card before reaching out. Michael explained that Lore is the new brand for the GEO/SEO arm that started inside Megaphone. The client then provided a new card via the Stripe billing portal.

Client’s explicit suggestion: “may want to give your other clients a heads up!”

Why it matters

Every Megaphone SEO/GEO client whose billing went through Stripe under the old name may now see “Lore Builders” on their statement without any heads-up. At least one has already cancelled their card. Others may do the same silently (churn risk if charge fails and they don’t reach out first).

Commitment needed

Michael to proactively notify all remaining Lore/Megaphone SEO-GEO clients that billing will appear as “Lore Builders” going forward. Before doing so, confirm the Stripe billing descriptor matches “Lore Builders” exactly so the message is accurate.

Structural note

Lore’s public brand launch is still a few weeks out (per Michael in Slack: “formally launching it in a couple weeks”). The billing name changed before the public announcement, creating a gap. Worth aligning internal billing descriptor timing with comms rollout for any future rebrand.
